Chainmail isn't just about armour made from rusty mild steel rings anymore. There is a whole host of materials that can be used in the manufacture of mail. These range from the use of precious metals such as Gold and Sterling Silver, to more modern metals and alloys such as Aluminium and Stainless Steel.
Precious Metals (Gold & Silver)
Basically Gold and Sterling Silver. I keep Sterling Silver in stock but both are special orders.
Steel is the material of choice for real men! It is very strong and very heavy.
There are three types of steel which I use; Mild Steel, Stainless Steel and Galvanised Steel.
A popular choice for ladies Jewellery due to the massive weight difference. Aluminium can also be anodised providing a huge variety of colours.
Mainly used as decoration for mail shirts.
There is a wide variety of other materials available as custom orders, including Titanium and Niobium which are ideal for people with metal sensitivities.
